Harris Academies
All Academies in our Federation aim to transform the lives of the students they serve by bringing about rapid improvement in examination results, personal development and aspiration.

Year 5

This year, Miss Meikle/Mr Green will be teaching in Redwood Class, while Mrs Bediako/Mr Green will teach in Ash Class. They will be supported by Mrs McGery

In Year 5 the children will be learning:

English, Maths, Phonics and Reading lessons take place each day. Children take part in writing every day, often linked to their topic and the book that they are reading in class. Every half term, the children will be covering a new topic. Foundation subjects such as History, Geography and Music continue to be taught, as often as possible in a cross curricular way. Children will also be learning French and having an Artis lesson once a week.  Curriculum maps will be handed out at the start of each half term so that you can see what your child will be learning for that half term.

We expect Year 5 children to read every night.  This reading should be recorded in their reading record.  We focus a great deal on understanding the content of what is being read; asking a variety of questions about the content in order to ensure they gain a full understanding of the plot, characters and themes.

Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled and in school every Monday for our PE lessons during the week.
